Position Summary:

We are seeking a Engineer with strong process design experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the dairy or food processing industries, with expertise in P&ID development, device lists, and process design documentation. This role requires both technical engineering skills and the ability to collaborate with customers, project managers, and other engineering disciplines.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for dairy and food processing projects utilizing AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Generate and maintain device lists, instrument indexes, and equipment specifications using Excel, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Support process design activities including material balances, utility requirements, and process optimization.
  • Work closely with project managers, automation & control engineers, and clients to ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in process hazard analyses, risk assessments, and validation activities.
  • Provide technical input during project execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis related to process design and equipment sizing / selection.
  • Provide process equipment startup support – includes ensuring compliance to policies and procedures.
  • All other related duties as assigned.


Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with P&IDs, device lists, and process documentation.
  • Preferred familiarity with process equipment such as pasteurizers, separators, evaporators, heat exchangers, and CIP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety, sanitary design, and regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, 3-A).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Need to possess good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of clients, co-workers, management, and executive staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret various technical, operating and process documents, write reports and correspondence both technical and business related.
  • Must be a self-starter, have good organizational skills and be able to accept constantly changing priorities.
  • Higher level knowledge of Microsoft products including: Outlook, Excel, Word and Access.


Qualifications:

  • Chemical/Agricultural/Food Science or Food Technology Engineering Bachelor's or Technical Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 2–5 years of relevant work experience in process engineering, preferably in the dairy, food, or beverage industries
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and prepare reports
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or hold a Permanent Resident Green Card
